Meritor is searching for an Manufacturing Program Manager to work within the precision Components business unit, involved in the forging & machining of high-precision high complexity machined gears & shafts, for the industrial, off-highway, automotive, commercial vehicle, and other such markets. The Program Manager will engage with and lead a cross-functional team to initiate, plan, manage, execute, control, and effectively launch design & manufacturing projects on-time and in-budget. The plant locations in the Business Unit are in Howell, MI and Morristown, TN primarily. This position will be based in Howell, MI and will require 20-25% domestic travel to support plant activities and manage program launches. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in industrialization, manufacturing, engineering, and project management, and will have the desire to find optimal & creative solutions to diverse problems.

This position will be primarily focused on ensuring projects are progressing per the expected timing and project & product costs are as expected. •The Program Manager will be responsible for multiple small & large complexity and risk level projects
•Manage new product, process, or cost initiatives to deliver quality, timing, and cost targets
•Able to successfully manage a portfolio of projects
•Lead cross-functional teams and interface with all internal departments working on projects, to keep up to date on project status and ensure timely completion
•Facilitates cross-functional and cross-facility communications
•Works with customers to ensure project meets customer requirements
•Ensures proper coordination, prioritization, and communication of project objectives
•Aggressively pursue execution excellence utilizing standardized project management tools and compliance to Meritor processes including Windchill, GP3, MS Project, etc.
•Participate in Meritor GP3 Program Management process improvement initiatives as assigned
•Utilize value stream mapping to identify and eliminate waste as well as evaluate potential changes in workflow to maximize production efficiencies
•Assist in the identification and development of new equipment and tooling sources
•Completes and performs other duties/tasks as may be assigned

Job Requirements


• Bachelors Level Degree in a relevant field required; preferably mechanical, industrial, manufacturing engineering or engineering technology - experience in lieu of degree considered
• 8-10 years of program management and manufacturing experience required
• 5 years of experience leading major projects required
• Hands-on manufacturing involvement in the launch of a new product and/or manufacturing cost improvement project implementation experience is highly preferred
• Experience in component manufacturing (machining, forging, and heat treatment) highly preferred
• Gear manufacturing experience highly preferred
• Industrial markets, Off Highway, Automotive, Commercial Vehicle or Light Vehicle market experience preferred
• Strong teamwork and ability to interact with all levels and global regions of the organization.
• Strong & effective oral and written communication skills including MS Project, PowerPoint presentation creation, Excel analysis, and ability to communicate program status to all levels of the organization.
• Strong working knowledge of financial tools and metrics (i.e., EBITDA, NPV, Payback, CapeEx, etc.)
• Strong financial, analytical, and problem solving ability
• Professional certifications (SAE, PMP, AWS, etc.) preferred
